Q: Why did Autologyx build Applied AI Agents?

Ben: We kept seeing organisations experiment and deploy AI in isolation, chat tools here, copilots there. Very little of it was connected to real processes. That creates risk and limits value. We designed our Applied AI tooling and the subsequent agents so that they can be embedded directly into workflows, where it can actually execute work under governance and control.

Q: How is the Autologyx Applied Ai strategy different from copilots or chat intefaces?

Ben: Copilots and chat style tools exist assist individuals. They are a personal productivity booster, largely. Our agents perform defined roles inside a process. They’re triggered by workflow logic, produce structured outputs, and hand work to the next phase, whether that’s another system, another agent, or a human. That’s a big shift from AI as an assistant to AI as part of execution.

Q: Governance is a big concern with the use of AI. How does Autologyx address that?

Ben: Governance is foundational. Agents operate inside workflows with audit trails, business rules, and human-in-the-loop controls. You can see what the agent did, why it did it, and what happened next. That’s essential for teams working in regulated industries.

Q: What kinds of use cases are customers most excited about?

Ben: Often it’s about reducing the drudge work. Standardising intake & triage, matter allocation, summarisation and contract analysis are big ones our customers have enhanced. This is just the beginning though. Anywhere there’s unstructured information slowing teams down, agents can step in, structure it, and move the process forward automatically.

Q: What does Autologyx 1.13 enable that wasn’t possible before?

Ben: It enables intelligent execution. Instead of automating steps around people, you can now embed AI directly into the process, safely, predictably and at scale. That’s a meaningful shift for organisations looking to operationalise AI, not just experiment with it.

Q: What’s your advice for organisations starting with AI agents?

Ben: Start with real processes, not tools. Pick a workflow that’s painful, repetitive, and high-volume, then embed AI where it actually removes friction. That’s where you see ROI.
